Our story

A Chickasha dance studio where every dancer is actually seen

Our Chickasha location was formerly April's Dance Studio — a name many local families already know and love. The floors, the mirrors and the community are the same; the studio is now Chickasha School of Dance, with new leadership and a renewed focus on small, personal classes.

We keep class sizes intentionally small. That means teachers know each dancer's name, notice when someone is struggling, and can celebrate the moment a step finally clicks. Dancers are corrected kindly, praised honestly and never compared to each other.

Owner & Director

Kaleah Moates

Hi, I'm Kaleah Moates — owner and director of Chickasha School of Dance. With over two decades of dance experience, my passion for movement and mentorship has been at the heart of everything I do.

My dance journey began in Oklahoma at age two. When my family moved to Denver, Colorado when I was four, I continued to train in Denver and Boulder and earned spots on three elite competitive dance teams between the ages of five and eighteen. In 2005, I was honored to be selected as a Denver Broncos Cheerleader, a milestone that deepened my commitment to performance and professionalism in the dance world.

I first opened Taps N Toes Dance Studio in Robinson, Illinois, and later founded Blanchard School of Dance in 2010. While our studio started with a focus on recreational classes, over sixteen years we expanded to include three competitive teams. Now we are blessed to spread our passion for dance with aspiring dancers in Chickasha, OK and surrounding areas through our new second studio, Chickasha School of Dance. It has been incredible to see our dancers grow in confidence, skill, and passion.

I specialize in working with children and young adults and am deeply committed to creating a positive, inspiring environment for every student who walks through our doors. Whether it's their first class or they're preparing for competition, my goal is to help each dancer reach their fullest potential — while having fun every step of the way.

What we believe

Small classes, on purpose

Fewer dancers per class means more feedback, faster progress and no one hiding in the back row.

Kind, high standards

Encouragement and real technique are not opposites. We expect effort and we give patience.

Confidence beyond the studio

Most of our dancers won't dance professionally. All of them can leave braver than they arrived.
